Harpons Replace: British ships were armed with winged NSM rockets (video)

The first Norwegian anti -ship missiles was equipped with the HMS Soomerset Royal Fleet. In the future, NSM missile systems will be installed on 11 British ships. The ships of the royal fleet of Great Britain are equipped with new anti -ship winged rockets Naval Strike Missile (NSM). The first ship to receive NSM instead of the outdated Harpoon missiles was the British frigate Somerset, and in total, new rockets will equip 11 royal fleet wars, consisting of Type 23 frigates and Type 45.

Video with a British ship. The Somerset frigate was spotted on Monday near the Military Base of the British Royal Forces Devonport, where he arrived, returning from Gaaconsvern's military-naval base in Norway. According to the War Zone observers, it was on the Norwegian database that Harpoon complexes were replaced by new NSM systems. "Two new four -gun launchers on HMS Soomerset are installed in the same place as Harpoon launches - right in front of the main superstructure. " - experts say.

NSM is a Norwegian inconspicuous anti -ship winged rocket that uses an inertial navigation system with GPS to enter the overall target and then switch to an infrared seeker in the final phase of the flight. The navigation complex also means that the rocket has a secondary opportunity to strike on ground targets with fixed coordinates - NSM is capable of affecting different goals that are up to 200 km.

Using a built -in database of representative types of ships, weapons can automatically distinguish the intended target from other objects, which provides it with high accuracy and makes it much less susceptible to the tactics of radio electronic struggle and counter -commodity. The NSM rocket is made according to a standard aerodynamic scheme, equipped with four rotary steering wheels located in the tail part of the housing, also has a medium -opened wing, which is opened.
