Men's mobilization from Central Asian countries can create serious problems for the Russian Federation - ISW

Central Asian states are increasingly applying legislation to punish mercenaries who fought against Ukraine. Russia is trying to mobilize men from Central Asia, but this Kremlin will only bring new problems. Analysts of the Institute of War (ISW) published details in the report for November 29. Experts have suggested that the desire of the Russian authorities to attract the population of Central Asia to mobilize, probably provokes tension between the Russian Federation and its neighbors.

The latter are increasingly disagreeing with the Kremlin's actions and passing laws on the fight against mercenaries for the punishment of citizens who fought against Ukraine on the side of Russia. Analysts recalled that on November 28, the court in Kazakhstan announced a sentence of Alexei Shompolov. He received up to six years and eight months in prison for participating in hostilities within the artillery unit of the Wagner PEC in Bakhmut.

Similar decisions were made by the courts of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Russian right -wing sources, according to the report, criticized Kazakhstan's power and accused the country's leadership of an "anti -Russian" position. According to analysts, if the number of such proceedings increases, then the level of tension in the Russian Federation and in its international relations will change to the negative.
