Russians and Belarussians will be launched on Wimbledon: the Ministry of Culture of Britain has supported the decision

During the Wimbledon tournament, tennis players from the Russian Federation and Belarus will not have to receive funding from the governments of their countries, demonstrate flags and other national symbols, as well as express support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Minister of Culture, Media and Sports of the UK Lucy Fraser supported the decisions of the organizers of "Wimbledon" to allow Russian and Belarusian tennis players to participate in one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments. About it reports Sky News.

On March 31, the Wimbledon representatives decided that Russian and Belarusian athletes can participate in the competition, provided that no tennis players from the Russian Federation and Belarus will receive funding from the governments of their countries and will not demonstrate flags and other national symbols, or not It will support the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"All the time, while the Putin War continues in Ukraine, our position remained unchanged: Russian and Belarusian athletes who represent their country should not participate in local and international sports competitions. This position remains unchanged. Some athletes who finance themselves are, They can compete in the United Kingdom, provided that our neutrality leadership will adhere to. And we support this decision, " - said a representative of the British Ministry of Culture.

She also criticized at the UK Lunis Association, which last year introduced a ban on the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus, after which the ratings of points from Vimblen were removed and a fine was imposed. But Fraser stated that the government organization should not be fined because of a fundamental position on Russian aggression.

The last year's decision of the founders of the oldest tennis tournament, which some call the most prestigious, was designed not to allow the Kremlin regime to gain any benefits with the participation of their athletes in the tournament, according to the statement of the British tennis association. The Chairman of the Association Yen Hugitt stated that he still "condemns the Russian illegal invasion and sincerely expresses support for the people of Ukraine.

" According to him, it was an extremely difficult solution, but given all the factors, this is the best solution for the tournament this year, we recall that Ukrainian athletes will boycott tournaments that will be allowed to participate in the Russians and Belarusians. This decision was made by the Cabinet. Poland's authorities, in turn, declared their willingness to allow to participate in competitions in their territory athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus on one condition.
