"Grateful for support": In Azov reacted to a petition to unblock foreign weapons

Ukrainians urged the government to urgently negotiate with the United States to abolish weapons restrictions, to provide exercises and other assistance for Azov. A petition was created to assist the Ukrainian government with the abolition of the ban on the 12th Special Purpose Brigade of Modern Weapons from the United States. The relevant document was published on the website of the Presidential Office of Ukraine.

The unit noted that Russian propaganda continues to restrict access to modern Western weapons and the training of fighters. Even the experience and professionalism of the brigade servicemen, the protection of freedom cannot influence the opinion of some Western politicians.

The Ukrainians created a petition demanding "to instruct the head of the Government of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urgently negotiate from the United States to abolish restrictions on weapons, providing exercises and other assistance for the 12th Special Purpose Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. "Thank you for the support!" - says the subdivision post on Telegram. Ukrainian defenders urged citizens to support the initiative.

The office of the President of Ukraine, as noted on May 3, Azov Commander Denis Prokopenko, rejected the petition to the head of state with a request to assist in unlocking the provision of weapons from the connecting states for the unit. Azov fighters protect the civilized world daily, Denis Prokopenko stressed. The brigade needs modern Western weapons.

In October 2019, 40 members of the US House of Representatives decided to sign an appeal to the then Secretary of State Mike Pompeo regarding the introduction of the Azov Regiment to the list of international terrorist organizations. The Congressman said that the Ukrainian unit was connected with a terrorist who in March committed a shooting in the New Zealand city of Christchurch. We will remind, on May 7 the youngest defender of "Azovstal" Nazarii "Grinka" was killed.
