The Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak held a meeting of the working group to assist the countries that suffer from the acute food crisis. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the head of state, ministries and departments, ambassadors of Ukraine and foreign diplomats accredited in our country, representatives of international organizations.

Andriy Yermak noted that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the launch of the Humanitarian Program Grain from Ukraine while participating in the Group of Twenty Group. This initiative is aimed at facilitating the suffering of peoples and overcoming the food crisis caused by Russian armed aggression against Ukraine. First of all, it is about the countries of the African continent and Asia.

The head of the Presidential Office emphasized that the issue of overcoming the food crisis is among the points of the Ukrainian plan, which the head of state presented at the summit. "There is one point in which it is about food safety and the right of everyone to die from starvation because someone in the Kremlin invented to take away other people's territories," he stated.

"Today, all these countries are on the verge of a new famine precisely because Russia has launched this invading war against Ukraine," Andrey Yermak stressed. According to him, the Grain from Ukraine initiative is also important in the context of confirming our country's status as a guarantor of world food security. “It is very important that the international community knows exactly who saves the world from starvation today.

It is very important that not only Ukraine but also partners know this, ”said the head of the office of the Head of State. He added that Ukraine is ready to implement this program together with partners whose extensive experience will make it possible on time and effectively. The deputy head of the Presidential Office Andriy Sibiga noted that several states have already made a decision to participate in the initiative and are ready to become its donors.

In particular, Belgium, Germany and Poland have confirmed the financing of shipping vessels with grain that head or have already arrived in countries in need of food. The Presidential Office also noted that Japan, Turkey and the United States provided preliminary confirmations. Andriy Sibiga called on all participants of the meeting to consider participation in the initiative of Ukraine.

German Ambassador Anka Felguzen noted that her country is ready to continue financing the sending of grain ships to those countries that need it. Turkish Ambassador Jagmur Akhmet Gulnder said that his country welcomes and supports the Grain from Ukraine initiative and is now considering how it can help in its implementation. He also assured that Turkey will continue the effort to continue the work of the "grain corridor".

The Ambassador of China to Ukraine Fan Sunhun noted that the PRC supports the steps to guarantee global food security and appreciates efforts that help to mitigate the crisis situation, including the continuation of the grain agreement. Representatives of the US Embassy in Ukraine also expressed support for the Ukrainian initiative and declared their readiness to work with our country and partners to make it successful.
