The story of Trukhanov's Russian passport: what will happen if the document is forged - People's Deputy

Share: Gennady Trukhanov, the ex-mayor of Odesa, is called an absolutely pro-Russian politician for a reason, but the history of his Russian citizenship raises a lot of questions, according to People's Deputy of Ukraine Roman Lozynskyi. The situation is further complicated by the fact that some influential journalists and mass media are already openly saying that the copy of the passport of the Russian citizen Gennady Trukhanov is a forgery, Lozinsky said in an interview with Channel 24.

According to him, despite Trukhanov's "pro-Russianness" and even the assumption that he is the mastermind behind the assassination attempt on activist Serhiy Sternenko, European partners have questions about some of the authorities' decisions in the situation of depriving an official of Ukrainian citizenship. The deputy notes that clearing Odesa of Trukhanov is not equal to the idea of establishing a military administration there under the control of the president.

Europeans do not understand why it should be done in Odessa, which, fortunately, is not on the front line. The city could function with a city council secretary and deputies. Lozynsky believes that it should not have been implemented a military administration, but to act systematically: "According to the president of the SBU, real facts about Trukhanov should be collected. And they are. Starting with the attempt on Sternenko and ending with his other actions.

And now it was certainly done for some future event. And if the documents were indeed photoshopped, then this will affect the credibility not only of the SBU, but also of Ukraine in general". The parliamentarian states that Europe understands the pro-Russian actions of Trukhanov and other politicians and has no doubt that they should be responsible for it. However, in what form and how hastily the showdown with the mayor is taking place, raises many questions.

"We are not talking about protecting a pro-Russian politician. We are talking about protecting institutions, the Constitution and common sense," the parliamentarian explains, emphasizing once again that the move with Trukhanov is correct in content, but inadequate in form. The politician is sure that the image of Ukraine cannot be hung up, since "European integration and financial and military assistance from partners literally depend on it.

" On his Facebook page, Lozinsky published a "plan for a healthy government in a warring country" regarding the solution to a case similar to the one that arose with the Trukhanov case. Meanwhile, Gennadiy Trukhanov continues to deny that he has a Russian passport, and during a recent briefing, he said that it would be good to check the Russian citizenship of the wife of the head of Odesa OVA Oleg Kiper "as thoroughly as he does.
