Russia hit Ukraine with a new version of the X-69 missile: what is the projectile and why it is dangerous

Ukrainian air defense remedies destroyed four of the six-running X-69 missiles during October 19 attack. The danger of ammunition lies in its cassette battle part. Russian invaders hit Ukraine with a winged X-69 rocket with a new combat unit. Photos of ammunition appeared in the Telegram channel "Colonel of the GSh". The X-69 rocket is equipped with a cassette combat unit, this is the first recorded case of the use of this ammunition during a full-scale war.

In case of detection of metal balls, the channel author recommends that you not touch them and call them SES units. The means of Ukrainian air defense destroyed the specified X-69 missile during the attack on October 19, the Armed Forces report states that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation attacked six X-59/X-69 missiles, of which four units were shot down. The X-69 missile developed the Raduga design bureau, first shown at the Army in August 2022.

The Russian army for the first time used a projectile for blows in Ukraine during a massive attack on February 7, 2024, writes Defense Express. The Russian military also used the X-69 rocket to strike Trypillian TPP in April. The carriers of the rocket are Su-57 fighters. In May 2024, the General Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine reported that Russia is able to produce 1-3 units of winged missiles X-69 a month. Approximate stocks were estimated at 45 units.

We will remind, in early September Russia presented the X-69 missile on the air show in Egypt. The promotion of ammunition and its carrier Su-57 in the markets of African countries is complicated by high prices and insufficiently reliable characteristics. On October 7, the Novosibirsk missile joint was brought to combat patrolling autonomous launchers for Yars Nuclear Missiles.
