Mass shelling of Zaporizhzhya NPP: Explosions were heard near reactors - IAEA

The attack was damaged by the storage of radioactive waste, systems and equipment required for the functioning of the nuclear facility. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out one of the most massive shelling of Zaporizhzhya NPP in Energodar, and some explosions were heard near the reactors. This is stated in the statement of CEO of IAEA Rafael Grosssey.

According to him, the shelling of the Zaporozhye NPP was carried out on November 19 and 20, which damaged the buildings of a nuclear facility, system and equipment of the station. Several explosions, as stated in Grossi's statement, were thundered near the reactors. The CEO of the IAEA called the attack on the Zaporizhzhya NPP one of the most recent months and a "heavy blow" for the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.

"The level of radiation at the facility remains normal, and the reports of the victims were not received. External sources of electricity supply, which were disrupted several times during the conflict, were also not injured. The last shelling began on November 19 shortly before 18:00 in local time and local time and after the lull. He recovered on November 20 at 9:15 am, when more than a dozen explosions occurred within 40 minutes.

After the morning shelling, it became quiet again in the area, "the statement said. The arrival of the shells damaged the storage of radioactive waste, sprinkler pond system, electric cable leading to one of the reactors, condensate storage tanks, as well as cities between the reactor and auxiliary buildings.

Grossi, commenting on a large -scale blow to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on Zaporizhzhya NPP, stressed that the world "was lucky again" and the nuclear incident did not happen. "Next time we may not be so lucky. We must do our best to keep it out of the next time. Although there was no direct impact on the key systems of nuclear protection and security at the station, the shelling was in dangerous closeness from them. It is about meters, not about kilometers.

Whoever fired at the Zaporozhye NPP-he goes to a huge risk and plays with the lives of many people, "-summed up Grossi in his statement published by the IAEA press service. It should be noted that Energoatom also reported a massive shelling of Zaporizhzhya NPP in the occupied energy. According to the company, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was inflicted on the territory of the nuclear facility of at least 12 beats, resulting in damage to the building and equipment of the station.
