During the testing of the newest air defense system, it will be checked whether one operator can control a hundred drones, the Business Insuder media reported. The system was created by Atreyd. At the same time, protective UAVs will work without GPS, will cost several thousand dollars and will be powered by batteries. A representative of Atreyd told the media about the working principle of the secret development, which will be tested in Ukraine.
It turned out that the countermeasures against Shahed and KAB will take place in several stages: The article listed a number of advantages of the new interception system. Among them are low cost (FPV costs several hundred dollars compared to an anti-aircraft missile), scalability (can be deployed in any areas), resistance to EW jamming (there is a ready-made 3D map of the area), the possibility of reusing FPV, and protection from "friendly fire".
"One soldier can usually fly 100 drones, and they don't need any special qualifications, nor do they need to be an experienced drone pilot," Atreyd explained. The system has passed the first tests and is already in Ukraine. It will be deployed over the next few weeks and will first protect infrastructure facilities and then the front line. The current version is ground-based, but a version for deployment on ships and in the air is being prepared, an Atreyd representative said.
"The deployment of the wall of drones will be the first known case of the implementation of this type of protection in any conflict, which will provide Ukraine with a new level of protection against increased Russian air attacks," BI media wrote. The company did not specify where exactly the first "wall of drones" will be deployed. There are also no photos to show what the new air defense system looks like.
It should be noted that on the night of November 8, the Russian Armed Forces launched 458 drones of various types over Ukraine, which attacked from three ranges in the northeast (Bryansk, Orel, Millerovo) and from two in the south (Primorsko-Akhtarsk and occupied Crimea). As reported by the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it was possible to shoot down or neutralize 406 drones: aviation, air defense systems, mobile fire groups, and interceptor drones were in action.
