"Threatening gust": The Armed Forces have a third volume of shells to hold the front - FT

Rustem Umerov's Defense Minister explained to the European officials that the victory on the battlefield would win and a party that has more shells. The Defense Forces of Ukraine have a third of the minimum number of shells needed to Ukrainian fighters to hold positions. Due to the inability of Western countries, to set up the release of BC in the required volumes and blocking the US military aid, breakthroughs are possible in any of the front areas.

The situation in the Russian-Ukrainian war was told at the Financial Times (FT) portal. FT journalists spoke with the political analyst of Robot Lee, with an unnamed high -ranking European diplomat and an American official. At the beginning of the article, they refer to the letter of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, addressed to the Supreme Representative of the European Union on Foreign Affairs of Josep Borrel.

The letter indicates that the Armed Forces artillery uses only 2 thousand shells on the front line, while the minimum required number is 6 thousand "the deficit increases every day. The ability of the enemy to overhaid the Armed Forces of Ukraine more than 3: 1 just deteriorate on the portal. After quoted Umerov, journalists gave several abstracts about the consequences of the situation and attempts to solve it.

According to the American official, the shortage of shells threatens the "air bubble" or "a breakthrough of the hose" ("Airbubble" or "gap in the hose") - cited the interlocutor's expression on the portal. The European diplomat noted that the EU's ability to provide Ukraine with the necessary number of shells. He noted that with the available arsenal it will be difficult to keep the front line. "It will not be easy for Europeans to replace the US. It is not quite realistic.

Can [EU] be enough if the US is changing the course? I'm not sure. " The researcher of the Institute of Foreign Policy, Rob Lee noted another problem, except for the lack of projectiles - infantry. In his opinion, if such a situation continues, "Ukraine will worsen. " Umerov's opinion on FT was also given to how Ukraine can win in the war. In the text of the letter, a similar situation is called "Old Truism" (well -known truth).

Triism is that "the party that has the most ammunition for battle usually wins. " It should be noted that in the spring of 2023 representatives of the European Union assured that by the end of the year the factories will produce 1 million shells of 155 mm caliber, which Ukraine can receive. In the fall, it turned out that the obligations would not fulfill - the enterprises did not cope with the order.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has found the opportunity to produce artillery shells of NATO caliber - production line productivity is not exactly known. For almost two years of the war, the Pentagon has announced the allocation of a new package of assistance twice a month - it was reported on the website of the department. There are about 200 thousand shells in each package.

In the fall of 2023, the House of Representatives of the US Congress blocked $ 61 billion: in January 2024, the US government reported that it was no longer money to support Ukraine. During the meeting of the Ramstein contact group, Pentagon Lloyd Austin, the only thing that the United States can provide, is the training platforms for Ukrainian military training.
