After a scandal with construction in Mariupol: a German building materials manufacturer comes from the Russian Federation - DW

According to the newspaper, Knauf decided to transfer to local management all businesses, including raw materials, production of building materials and their sale. The well -known German manufacturer of KNAUF building materials completely covers its activities in Russia after 30 years of cooperation with Russian construction companies, but does not name the reasons for leaving the Russian market. Deutsche Welle writes about it on April 22.

KNAUF emphasizes that such a decision is related to the current state of affairs, when the parent company has decided to transfer to the local, ie Russian, management all business, including raw materials, production of building materials and their sale. Because, as they say in the leadership in Germany, they seek to save more than 4,000 jobs. At the same time, they emphasize that the whole process of business transfer should still approve the Russian government.

According to the media, in fact, such a decision by German management was adopted through a scandal that caused a journalistic investigation of the Monitor of the German TV channel ARD, as a result of which it was found that German companies Knauf and WKB Systems were conducted with Russian occupants. The Russians were destroyed.

TV channel journalists found that on many construction sites, Russia in the destroyed city was used cement and gypsum from Knauf, and Knauf Knauf Head of Knauf was honored consul of Russia for more than 20 years, even after the annexation of Crimea. He called anti -Russian sanctions in 2018. At the same time, the sales of the company are billions of dollars - yes, for 2022 the circulation of the company was 15. 4 billion euros.

"This is an important decision because the German company has actually contributed to the strengthening of the occupying power that systematically violates international humanitarian law and commits military crimes against the population. At the same time, it is necessary to understand that many foreign enterprises continue to work in the occupied territories, violating national legislation and sanctions.

It is important for the violation of sanctions to be criminalized, "-said Gunduz Mammadov, expert on national and international law, Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine in 2019-2021. Recall that German Knauf and WKB Systems are not the only companies that work in the Russian Federation despite its status.

In total, there are more than 40 firms like Alibaba, Philip Morris, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Xiaomi among the sponsors of war, which is a list of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption. It should be reminded that on April 18, German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz stated that Ukraine could receive additional Patriot Air Defense Systems in the near future.
