The use of chemical weapons or chemicals to combat unrest as a means of war is a violation of the Convention. In June, 560 Ukrainian servicemen went to doctors with symptoms of chemical poisoning. During June of this year, 639 cases of use by Russians with a content of hazardous chemical compounds, mainly CS (2-chlorobenzalmalononitril), were documented by troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection (RCB). This is reported in the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

During the period from February 15, 2023 to June 24, 2024, 3201 were recorded by the use of hazardous chemicals by Russians, the main means of delivery of which are discharges of K-51 grenades and UAV. During the specified period, 1945 cases of appeals of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to medical institutions with symptoms of chemical damage of varying severity, of which only in June - 560 are also recorded in 1945.
