The "shell" near the refinery: how quickly the Russian Federation will protect against drones of the Armed Forces - Defense Express

The Russian refining plants from air attacks from the air will be able to establish during the month, analysts explained. After that, the Ukrainian drones will choose other, equally important goals. The Russian authorities have decided to protect them anti-aircraft missile installations (SCR) "shell" after a month and a half. The reaction came late, as the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation regularly reported that all attacking devices were neutralized.

The protection of the refinery should be engaged in Rosgvardia, but it does not include the power of air defense. Defense Express experts told about how the Kremlin will get deficit aircraft and how much time will spend. Experts first analyzed the reaction of the Russian Federation to blows to Moscow. The first Ukrainian drone reached the capital on July 30, 2023.

The attacks lasted until the end of August, and in September, the Russian authorities reported that it completely defended the multimillion -dollar city. That is, the reaction time - 1 month, was written on the portal. On the other hand, you need to understand what means the Russians can use. The first option is a shell (capable of hitting targets up to 18 km, in addition, has guns that shoot at a speed of 5 thousand shots per minute).

In order to protect Moscow, the Russians drove "Arctic" installations - this indicates a deficiency of air defense even to protect the capital. In addition, to operate effectively, they were lifted on roofs of particularly important buildings or built special high -rise structures - on Defense Express showed appropriate photos. The second option is ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft installations and large-caliber machine guns.

They can be replaced by a shortage of SCC "shell" and they are really capable of hunting Ukrainian drones, experts said. However, in their opinion, the effectiveness of machine guns is still less than the efficiency of "shells" that are lacking. Even if the Russian Federation is able to protect the refinery for the next month or longer, then it is not necessary to worry about it, - experts emphasized.

There are many military facilities in Russia that can be the following goals for the Armed Forces drones. On the network you can find information about the estimated amount of SAC "shell" - in 2017 the Russian Federation had 110 pcs. After the invasion, they continued to be produced: the manufacturers reported this, and the Minister of Defense Sergei Shoiga visited the plant, which is engaged in the production of C-300.

It should be noted that attacks on the facilities of the Russian refinery began in September 2023-the first purposes were oil depots and some refineries located within a radius of 100-900 km from the Ukrainian border. Analysts estimated that by mid-February 2024, 18 objects were kissed, the most remote of which was the oil terminal in Ust-Luz near St. Petersburg.

In March, massive attacks of drones began, which threatened the refinery-they were targeted at the AVK-6 installation, which are the main elements of oil processing. Within three to four weeks, 17 strokes were made on 12 objects. Bloomberg estimated that Ukrainians attacked 12% of Russian oil refining. The military journalist Julian Rubke estimated that during each attack, Ukrainians used 30 to 60 UAVs with explosives.
