Japan tests the supersonic HVGP rocket: what is the interesting development (video)

At this stage of development, the rocket accelerates to a speed of 5 strokes and is able to fly 900 km. However, the plans of Japanese engineers by 2031 increase the flight range to 3000 km. The Japanese Agency for Procurement, Technology and Logistics (ATLA) for the first time published the framework of the test launch of the domestic long-range hyper-rapid gliding Hyper-Velocity Glring Projectile or HVGP.

This newest type of weapon is designed to strengthen the defense of the Japanese islands and will be implemented in the armament of Japan Self -Defense Self -Defense (JGSDF) since the 2026 financial year. This was reported on June 8 in Naval News. HVGP is a hypersonic weapon that, after starting with a rocket carrier, separates the sliding warhead to the target. The expected flight range is about 900 km. The ammunition test was recorded in video.

The footage shows the first stages of tests, which allegedly confirm the announced properties of the rocket, namely, speed of 5 strokes (6100 km/h). The video also shows that the tests are carried out using a ground launcher near the coast. It is known that the HVGP rocket is also intended for use in the future. It is planned that two hypersonic missiles will be transported on a truck, which is also a starting unit.

The Japanese rocket is intended to impress high goals and repel potential threats from Chinese warships and aircraft carriers. Therefore, the rocket can be pre -characterized as anti -ship. The first tests of the basic version known as "Early Deployment Version (Block 1)" took place on March 23, 2024 in California, the United States, where measuring systems were checked for future start -ups.
