Tokamaks use a combination of electromagnets and plasma induced current, the stelarators use only magnets. This requires the design of the vessel and the magnet to be much more complicated, allowing the reaction to work continuously and safely. Founded more than two years ago, Proxima Fusion is a subsidiary of the Max Plasma Physics Institute (IPP), which developed the world's most advanced prototype of the stelartor-Wendelstein 7-X.
With the financial support of the European Union, the Government of Germany and Venture Capital, the startup is developed by a commercial stelator - Stellaris. It uses stronger magnetic fields, as well as high -temperature superconducting technology (HTS) for energy. The design of the Stellaris nuclear reactor has undergone a thorough expert evaluation and guarantees that it can overcome physical and engineering restrictions.
