Following this statement, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Fatich Donmez reported that Russia and Turkey were able to reach a fundamental agreement on the creation of gas hub on the Black Sea. In addition, the Turkish government representative suggested that Azerbaijan would enter this project. However, Baku's official position is more than cautious - Elnur Soltanov's Minister Elnur said that the most important thing is the economic justification of the project.
This position of Azerbaijan is not surprising, because the Turkish gas hub, which is so actively advertised by hostile propaganda-is a soap bubble, but according to the plan of the enemy, this project is intended to destroy the EU interest in the gas transportation system of Ukraine and thus reduce the pace European states. The dispeling myth will start with definitions. The gas hub is called a outlet or space where buyers and sellers exchange ownership of the product.
Such transactions occur through the signing of financial (futures) and/or commercial agreements (physical supply) within the same trading area on the exchange. For example, gas hubs of different scale operate in 25 EU countries. The most liquid commercial area is TTF in the Netherlands. The hubs of France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy demonstrate significant progress.
The rapid rate of development of spot trade is inherent in countries such as Poland, Hungary, Denmark and Sweden. At the stage of formation there are hubs in the Baltic States, Slovakia, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia and Greece. Available gas hubs can be classified as follows. First of all, it is physical, they are characterized by physical transmission of natural gas.
Therefore, a prerequisite for organizing such a hub is a sufficient amount of gas production, an extensive infrastructure, a large number of market participants. The second type is transit, where natural gas is resale and overloading from one type of transport to another. The third type - benchmark: space with a developed financial services market and long -term lending. As you can see, it is impossible to create a gas hub for five reasons in Turkey. 1.
Insufficient power of Turkish gas storage facilities - they cover only 20% of the domestic market demand. Such power is unable to perform the functions inherent in the physical and transit type of hubs. 2. Lack of free gas resource in the southern regions of Russia and transport capacity to deliver additional volumes. In addition, restrictions in the operating modes of existing underwater pipelines due to the high concentration of sulfur in the Black Sea. 3.
Lack of Russian gas request in EU countries and infrastructure for its physical transportation from Turkey to Austria and Germany. 4. The need for implementation of EU energy legislation. 5. Collapse of the market of financial and auxiliary services through inflation of the Turkish lyre. This makes it impossible to have a safe process of hedging - insurance of different assets from adverse changes in market situation.
No one will guarantee Iran's business reputation, which is also a gas supplier to Turkey. Instead, the capacity of the Ukrainian gas transportation system can provide natural gas with 1/3 of the total population of the planet or 2 billion people. Therefore, if you be a new hub - so Eastern European in Ukraine, which will become multifunctional and at the same time play the role of physical, transit and gas trade space.
This, in fact, is afraid in Russia, since the deployment of a hub in Ukraine will open a reliable gas path from Azerbaijan and other EU countries to the EU market, which will mean the final and irreversible departure of the Kremlin from the geopolitical arena.
In general, the creation of an Eastern European hub in Ukraine will open up new opportunities for the post -war restoration of the national economy due to the formation of a fair price of gas for all categories of consumers; preservation of volumes of commodity transport work; attracting investments in gas production; opening of new orders for enterprises of related industries; Increasing business activity as a whole.
