Increasing air defense and approaching Ukraine to NATO: Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Jens Stoltenberg met with students of the National University of Defense

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg visited the National University of Defense in Kiev the day before. They met with students who take professional military training under NATO standards. The Alliance Secretary General has called this one example of how the North Atlantic Treaty is increasingly integrating Ukraine into its structure and educational programs. During the meeting, the prospects for strengthening Ukrainian air defense were discussed.

The head of state noted that with the help of partners, our military has mastered modern Western air defense systems and so many different species there are now no Alliance in any country. “Today, our experts can definitely say what is the perfect system for us, how much we lack. Our air defense is not yet versatile, it changes daily, is filled. Not only the air defense systems, but also the IEC, antitrone systems, etc. , ”he said.

Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Ukrainian defenders of the sky today face a complex of various threats, and technology struggle is ongoing. "I am sure that we will still have modern planes, which will also be one of the components of this system," he added. For its part, Jens Stoltenberg noted that as soon as Ukraine becomes a member of the Alliance - it will be fully integrated into the NATO air defense system. “At the same time, we need to make you as interconnected as possible.

And to integrate as far as we can, ”he said. The Head of State stressed that it is very important for Ukraine to get an invitation to membership in the North Atlantic Alliance, and spoke separately about the work of the Council of Ukraine - NATO. “Without any bureaucratic pauses, when Ukraine needs, we can call it. This is one of the tools. Today we discussed a few new tools with the Secretary General, ”he summed up.
