It is noted that the Belarusian 140th Repair Plant and an unnamed Russian defense enterprise worked on the project of the BTR-60 modernization of the BTR-60. The project is intended to meet the needs of foreign users of this machine. The design of the machine has undergone major changes in the part of the motor-transmission department. The Spark of old gasoline engines was replaced by 2 new diesel "D-245 12C" of Belarusian production, which is a total capacity of 218 horsepower.

In addition, the interior was updated and modern electronics was installed. In particular, the perimeter of the machine installed inspection chambers, the images of which removed the screens of the mechanic-driver. The Russian side has taken on a weapon renewal. The tower was installed inspection station of the commander of the machine with thermal imaging channel, as well as a similar camera for the weapons operator. It was the arms of the BTR-60 that did not touch.

The KPVT large caliber machine gun and 7. 62 mm paired with it still remained. The possibility of manual weapons management was also preserved. In addition, the projects have equipped a machine gun module with two -way stabilization to compensate for deviations during firing and during the archery. However, according to experts, the car did not get rid of its key problems. In particular, it is a weak protection, the inability to plant a landing, a weak power plant as a machine weighing about 10 tons.

The Ukrainian side partially solved these problems by modernizing the BTR-60 to the BTR-60D version, cutting between the second and third axis the side door, as well as installing new engines. We will remind that in the Russian Federation declared the modernization of the artsystem "shore". She is allegedly capable of shooting Krasnopol shells and reaches the objects up to 50 kilometers.
