Homemade drones in the war in Ukraine were better than factory - NYT

In service with Russian and Ukrainian troops there are serial ammunition, but recently FPV diggers have been used more often on the front. The military appreciate them for flexibility and cheapness. Cheap homemade drones in the war in Ukraine have proven to be more efficient than factory serial models. This conclusion was reached by journalists of the American edition of New York Times, who spoke with Ukrainian soldiers.

Russia produces drones-Kamikadze "Lancet" and purchases Shahd's shock drones from Iran while the United States passes the Switchblade Barage Ammunition to the Ukrainian troops. According to the military, serial models have great flight range and slaughter force, but they are not as flexible to use as homemade Kopter-Kamikadze. For example, Switchblade, like Shahd, is autonomously flying to pre -programmed goals, and handicraft UAVs are controlled by the operator directly.

In the 14 months of the war, Ukrainians learned how to collect deadly vehicles from entertainment drones, household electronics and computer game equipment, including Kamikadze, which explode during a collision for a purpose. Such UAVs are built on the basis of a frame for race and explosives attached with ribbons or plastic screeds.

Soldiers and civilian volunteers make cheap drones-Kamikadze in garage workshops, experimenting and inventing materials for 3D printing, explosives and software to bypass Russian electronic warfare. The Armed Forces fighters say that such drones are more common than Russians. Kamikadze drones are a one-time weapon, because they cannot even land safely after starting.

But they cost only a few hundred dollars and can at the same time affect the APC or more expensive equipment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. There are already many rollers as drones catch up with tanks on the go, opened hatches and doors of armored vehicles, as well as armor, where soldiers hide. "I see great potential for these weapons in trenches that prevail in the war.

Any equipment can be amazed at a place where the enemy thinks that he is a million percent in security," Major Cyril Veres, commander of the Ukrainian brigade, shared. stationed near Siversky, north of Bakhmut. Earlier, they wrote what FPV drones were and why they were effective in the war. Many organizations in Ukraine are engaged in their collection to transfer to the military. It has recently been reported that in Ukraine hundreds produce cheap shock drones, but it is still not enough.
