Russia confessed in nuclear terrorism at the Zaporizhzhya NPP - Ombudsman

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets stated that employees of the temporarily captured Russian invaders of Zaporizhzhya NPP undergo criminal prosecution, and the aggressor country itself confessed in nuclear terrorism. In his Telegram-channel, the Commissioner for Human Rights wrote that since March, Rosgvardia has announced the detention of 26 station employees. The detainees are accused of transferring data on the movement and location of enemy military equipment in the territory of the ZPP.

Video of the Day "Russian Military and Political Leadership is not ashamed to speak the world that they carry out nuclear terrorism and place military equipment on the territory of the working nuclear power plant," Lubinets said. The Ombudsman stressed that the station staff do not violate any rules of Ukrainian legislation or international law because they have the right to communicate with anyone who can guarantee NPP safety.

He added that the staff continues their work to prevent environmental disaster, despite the huge pressure from the invaders. “The invaders are delayed, tortured and killed by Zaporizhzhya NPP. It is not only a military crime against the civilian population, but also a violation of the principles of nuclear security, one of which is to preserve the integrity of the team responsible for the object, ”the Ombudsman said.

Lubinets called on the UN Secretary General, IAEA and the world community as soon as possible to send a security mission to the ZPP, demilitarize the territory of the object and provide security security guarantees of the station and its staff. Russian propagandists reported on August 24 that the occupiers detained two employees of Zaporizhzhya NPP for cooperation with the Armed Forces.

The largest nuclear power plant, Zaporizhzhya NPP, Russian invaders were captured after battles in Energodar on March 4. The buildings were damaged by Russian shelling in several places, and the staff of the station were captured. The Kremlin uses the Zaporozhye NPP to cover its military equipment because the Armed Forces cannot open fire in the area of the power plant, as well as for pressure on Ukraine and the world, threatening a nuclear disaster.

Russian troops have equipped fire positions for the ZPP and fired from there Ukrainian cities. Energoatom reported that the military of the Russian Federation had placed in the machine hall of the first power unit of Zaporizhzhya NPP at least 14 units of heavy military equipment with ammunition, weapons and explosives. On August 22, the invaders brought additional APCs and special cargoes to the station repair area. In recent weeks, the invaders have repeatedly arranged provocations with shelling.

Energoatom reported that Russia is preparing to disconnect the Zaporizhzhya NPP from the power system of Ukraine in the near future. On August 16, the head of the Zaporizhzhya Ova Alexander Starukh called on the residents of the temporarily captured energy to evacuate through the shelling of Russia of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant. He stated that in the event of an accident, about 400,000 people from two regions would have to be evacuated.
