Increasing air defense, joint production of drones and the return of children abducted by Russia: President of Ukraine met with Prime Minister of Norway

Jonas Gar Stere confirmed that Norway, along with Germany, fund the purchase of two Patriot systems and missiles. Volodymyr Zelensky also thanked for the supply of NASAMS systems and expressed his hope for them in common with Norway. “Partners know our air defense needs. We hope that the example of Norway assistance in this area will also be taken by other partners, other countries, including Scandinavian states, ”the President said.

During the meeting, the defensive needs of Ukraine, the situation at the front, the capabilities of Ukrainian soldiers, key threats and cooperation programs for weapons were discussed in detail. Norway joined the Purl NATO program, which allows you to buy US weapons at the expense of partners. The Prime Minister announced that next year, Norway will retain the same level of assistance as this year. Part of the funds will be aimed at financing Ukrainian production of drones.

The head of state stressed that drones, including long -range ones, should become one of Russia's coercion to peace. The President and the Prime Minister discussed diplomatic perspectives and safety guarantees for Ukraine. "Norway is one of the participants of the Coalition, and Ukraine hopes that Norway will practically participate in events that have to really guarantee the long -term safety of our people, our country, all in Europe," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Norway Prime Minister is convinced that a strong and secured Ukrainian army will be one of the biggest and most important guarantees of Ukraine's security in the future. “There is a discussion with partners on reliable security guarantees that will be implemented after reaching a sustainable peace in order to avoid re -aggression on the people of Ukraine. Norway is part of these discussions from the very beginning, ”Yonas Gar Stere said.

Leaders also talked about the importance of pressure on Russia. Volodymyr Zelensky and Jonas Gar Stere have a common position: sanctions must be valid until Russia ceases its aggression and occupation of Ukrainian lands. In addition, the President and the Prime Minister discussed energy cooperation. Norway assured that Ukraine will help Ukraine. There is already a decision to support Ukrainian gas purchases. “Russia is trying to disrupt our preparation for winter - it strikes our energy infrastructure. And this applies not only to the generation of electricity, the generation of heat, but also to the production of our natural gas.
