"Oriental Shield": Poland and Baltic countries replace borders with the Russian Federation and Belarus

To spread: As part of the creation of defense infrastructure along the eastern borders, Poland intends to produce from several hundred thousand to one million units of anti -tank and anti -personnel mines. Deputy Head of Polish Defense Minister Pavel Baid confirmed plans for the establishment of anti -personnel mines along the borders with Russia and Belarus as part of the Tarcza Wschód program.

In an interview with RMF FM, he stressed that this decision was conditioned by a serious situation with security on the eastern borders of the country and increased cooperation between Russia and Belarus. Baida reported that Poland has no anti -personnel mines, but the country is ready to organize their production. Ming Ming will be done by the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) holding company in cooperation with state and private enterprises.

It is planned to produce from several hundred thousand to one million units. Lithuania also confirmed the plans for the placement of anti -personnel and anti -tank mines along the borders with Russia and Belarus, taking the Polish model as a basis. According to Lithuanian Defense Minister, the Baltic States coordinated actions with Poland and Finland, seeking to integrate border defense systems into a single infrastructure.

The Eastern Shield, launched in May 2024, provides for the creation of a defense infrastructure along the 700-kilometer border with Belarus and Russia. The project budget is estimated at 10 billion PLN (about $ 2. 5 billion) and the completion of works is scheduled for 2028. The main elements of the program include: the first fortifications have already been completed in the Dombravki area (Varmina-Masurian Voivodeship) at the border with the Kaliningrad region.
