In Russia, the Olympiad medal will be taken away: CAS disqualified Valiyev figure skater for four years

Disqualification put an end to the long -term dispute of representatives of the Russian skater with anti -doping organizations. The story began on December 25, 2021, when Valiyeva did not pass the doping test at the Olympics. The Swiss Lausanne Sports Arbitration Court disqualified a 17-year-old Russian skater Kamila Valiyev for four years. The CAS stated that the athlete violated anti -doping rules. CNN writes about it.

Disqualification put an end to the long -term dispute of representatives of the Russian Federation with anti -doping organizations. The CAS verdict means that the Russian team will get rid of the Gold Medal in the team skating competitions won at the 2022 Olympic Games. History is drawn from December 25, 2021, when Valiyeva has not passed the doping test after one of the speeches at the Beijing Olympiad.

The doping test, which was conducted after the team skiing competitions, pointed to the presence in the body of 15-year-old Valeic trimetazidine-cardiac drugs, which can also increase endurance. On Monday, January 29, the CAS statement states that disqualification applies to all the competitive results that Valeyeva achieved after a positive test.

In Beijing, the Russian team represented by Valiyev (because of anti -doping sanctions, the Russian team was called the Russian Olympic Committee (OCD)), the first, ahead of the United States, Japan and Canada. But the medals were not awarded because of doping disputes. In their statement, the CAS representatives noted that there was no way to decide what Beijing-2022 will happen to the final meal and whether medals would be handed over.

The CAS also reported that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has a jurisdiction over the results. The consequences related to disqualification, starting from past competitions, including Winter Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022, are not included in the scope of this arbitration procedure and should be considered by relevant sports organizations, said in CAS.

In December 2022, the commission of the Russian Anti -Doping Agency (Rusada) noted that Valiyeva was not guilty, on her part there was no negligence. At the same time, the skater also stated that the drug got into the body by accident. However, the decision of Rusad was appealed by the IOC and the International Snake Union (ISU). Rusada later changed its initial position and demanded a punishment that "could be limited to the reprimand" for Valeyeva.

In his statement on Monday, CAS stated that the decision was "final and binding. " But the parties can appeal to the Federal Tribunal of Switzerland for 30 days, referring to a number of reasons. Recall that in February 2022 in the United States explained why Kamila Valiyeva took doping. According to US Anti -Doping Agency, Valeyeva representatives could try to increase endurance and improve sports results.
