"Tomahawks" as a step towards peace: missiles will become a convincing argument for Ukraine, — mass media

Share: The transfer of American Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine may not be a reason for escalation, but on the contrary, a step towards ending the war. These weapons in the hands of the Ukrainian armed forces are capable of changing the strategic balance and forcing Moscow to return to negotiations, analysts believe. Now that the Pentagon has given the "green light" to the transfer of Tomahawk missiles, the arguments in favor of their supply to Kyiv have become stronger.

The American publication The New York Post writes about it. According to the authors of the publication, Tomahawk missiles will enable Kiev to hit military facilities on the territory of Russia, including logistics centers, airfields, warehouses and energy hubs that support the war. This will put additional pressure on the Russian economy and defense infrastructure.

For its part, the US Department of Defense has determined that the national stockpile of Tomahawks is sufficient to allocate a portion of them to Ukraine without harming US defense capabilities. This addresses one of the key concerns of President Donald Trump, who has previously said that the US "shouldn't give away what we need".

In addition, the head of the White House expressed fears that training Ukrainians to use Tomahawks would take too long, and this allegedly creates a risk of inaccurate strikes harming civilians in Russia. "But (Trump) does not take into account the harsh fact that Moscow is now striking Ukrainian civilians every day - and does not even pretend that these strikes are random.

Kyiv, on the contrary, is targeting military and strategic objects; it wants to get Tomahawks to strike deep into Russia, just as Moscow strikes deep into Ukraine," the publication emphasizes. Another argument in favor of this decision is that Vladimir Putin has been manipulating the threat of "World War III" for years to deter the West's decision. However, practice has shown that Moscow does not escalate even after Ukraine receives new types of weapons — from HIMARS and Patriot to ATACMS.

"Every time, Moscow simply put up with the fact that Kyiv received new opportunities," the journalists emphasized. It will be recalled that US President Donald Trump is not yet considering the issue of providing Tomahawks for the Armed Forces, but he does not rule out that the situation may change. According to CNN, after an analysis, the Pentagon does not deny the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, and the issue now depends only on the political decision of the American president.
