The Ukrainian president first mentioned Trump's victory in the US elections, which, in his opinion, was one of the most prominent events of 2024.

Zelensky called the newly elected president "strong and unpredictable", he noted that he believes his desire to quickly complete the war of the Russian Federation, as well as that there is a real search for levers of influencing the Kremlin. According to the President, there are forces that try to "quarrel" Ukraine and the US - they know and take "appropriate steps".

At the same time, Trump's inauguration is constantly in contact with representatives of the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Defense. The question was whether the end of the war was possible "one day" after the newly elected President officially occupied the post of the United States Government. Zelensky noted that in the first days after inauguration, Trump can focus on domestic politics and on the Pacific.

In this case, a personal meeting of both politicians is possible. "Trump told me on the phone when we talked. He told me that one of the first visits I would expect you just - he told me. He said to me priority to finish war and I will do it. So I think , yes, after the inauguration we will have a meeting, " - said the Ukrainian president.

It is hoped that Trump's steps will coincide with the position of Ukrainians, because "we cannot be, we are Ukraine, it is our independence, it is our land and our future. " At the same time, American politicians are probably in contact with the Kremlin. "I think he will have contacts with the Russian side. It is clear because they will study many different details who are ready for," Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president also noted that the steps from the end of the war will begin with the termination of the hot stage of the war, when people will not be killed, and diplomacy will work. During the interview, the issues of fighting in the east, as well as in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. Zelensky confirmed that the situation is tense, among other things, there is little reserves in defense.

The 2025 task is to combine different opinions about the end of the war, the politician said. The President also lists the signs of just peace that Ukrainians will agree with: "A fair peace for Ukraine and strong security guarantees, which makes it impossible for Putin and then diplomatically return - if there is such an agreement," he said. Zelensky also touched on the issue of security and NATO. He stated that the best option for Ukraine was membership in the Alliance.

If they agree with the option without supporting the US, it will be "weak guarantees". At the same time, Israel was mentioned-this country is not a member of NATO, but can knock 200-500 missiles beating: this is possible by supporting the aviation of NATO member states, the politician said. "There are many details of these guarantees [as in Israel]. Nobody has offered such security guarantees in Ukraine," she was in an interview.

The head of the state supported the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron on the emergence of Western troops in Ukraine. At the same time, he acknowledged that the troops of one or two countries would not be enough. According to Zelensky, such a decision is possible in the case that the movement to NATO will really begin. Another country has also been announced that Macron's idea is Britain: other options were not voiced.

Another aspect: if there are troops, then not only land, but also, for example, the air and navy, which will come in handy, for example, in Odessa. "I think Britain will support, and some other countries that we have agreed to speak out loud because they are worried about saying it honey, because they are afraid of Russia's influence," Zelensky said. Today, it is only profitable for Russia to shake the situation and talk about the election of the President and Parliament in Ukraine.

Zelensky said that after the martial law and the hot phase of the war, the Council will announce the deadlines of the next election. When asked if he was ready to go for the second term, he stated that he had not yet decided. "It's not for me today's goal," Zelensky said.
