The Burevestnyk rocket could have been launched from the Tu-95, not from the ground: Russian media about the "flying Chernobyl" (video)

Share: The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, announced successful tests of a new type of weapon, which took place against the background of the escalation of the war in Ukraine and relations with the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump. At the same time, Russian propagandists showed a story about loading a missile, probably "Burevestnyk", on board a Tu-95MS bomber.

The Burevestnyk rocket with a nuclear reactor engine was supposed to be tested on the island of Novaya Zemlya in the Arctic Ocean, the Russian news agency "Agentstvo. Novosti" recalled. Instead, in the plot of the propaganda TV channel "Russia-1", it was reported that the newest weapon of the Russian Federation was launched from the Tu-95MS, which took off on the opposite side of the continent.

Analysts explained that there is a certain inconsistency in the previous statements about the Burevestnyk launch, Putin's speech and rossMI personnel. A post with an analysis of Russian Media stories appeared on the "Agentstvo. Novosti" channel on the morning of October 27. The media drew attention to the "Russia 1" video, in which an unknown weapon was loaded into the Tu-95MS.

However, it was not visible whether it was a Burevestnyk rocket or another weapon, as the object was covered with a piece of cloth. Russian journalists in the story said that the event took place at the Ukrainka military airfield in the Amur region in the Far East. The media noticed that the plot with the mysterious object was broadcast on October 22 and at the same time they talked about the training of a strategic bomber.

And the day before, on October 21, Putin announced the successful test of the weapon — the Burevestnik missile. A possible reason for the difference in dates is the time difference between the Far East and Moscow. At the same time, Western observers did not notice the launch on Novaya Zemlya and therefore doubted that it really happened. Based on such considerations, the post concludes that the "Petrel" is a missile that is launched from aircraft, and not from ground launchers.

OSINT analysts or the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation have not yet confirmed new information about Russian weapons. On Google maps, you can mark the possible launch points of the "Petrel". In the first case, we are talking about Novaya Zemlya, which is 2,500 km from Ukraine, and 7,700 km from the USA (if moving through the Arctic and Canada) or 4,400 (if moving towards Alaska).

If the missile took off from the Amur region, then from there the threat to the USA (4,300 km) is somewhat greater than to Ukraine (about 6,000 km). Meanwhile, the Tu-95 bomber can carry weapons with a total weight of 15-20 tons. At the same time, Western analysts roughly estimated the size of "Burevestnyk". Its possible weight is much greater than the weight of the X-101 (2. 5 tons), its length is 9-12 m, and its speed is 700-900 km/h.

In addition, the missile has a special design of the wings, and this makes it difficult to place under the fuselage of the Tu-95MS, The Times of India wrote. It should be noted that Focus wrote about the reaction of US President Donald Trump to Putin's statement about the launch of the Burevesnik missile. Getting on the plane, the head of the White House advised the head of the Kremlin to think about ending the war in Ukraine, and not to launch missiles with nuclear engines.
