She noted that the tanker managed to sell so profitably despite the fact that, according to the report of an independent appraiser, the ship was worn by 80%, and its restoration would require at least 20 million UAH of investments. Elena Duma also noted that buyers demonstrated a great interest: four participants competed for the right to buy a tanker. "This case is an example of how the sale of arrested ships can directly fill the State Budget of Ukraine," said Elena Duma.
According to the head of the ARMA, there are 16 arrested vessels in the management of the department. As for the tanker sold, Ukrainian law enforcement officers arrested him in 2019 at the port of Izmail. They found out that Nika Spirit was called Neyma, and it was by this name that was used by Russians to block Ukrainian warships in the Kerch Strait in November 2018.
