In the General Staff of the Armed Forces for the first time in 5 months they remained silent about Bakhmut's battles - isw

Since December 2022, the General Staff for the first time did not mention Bakhmut. Analysts explained this with the possible promotion of Wagner PEC in the city. In the morning summary of the General Staff of May 24, it was said that the epicenter of hostilities is Bakhmut and Marinka.

Military researchers from the Institute of War Study have mentioned that the Armed Forces press service reported a decrease in the rates of fighting in the Bakhmut direction and limited counterattacks of Ukrainian troops on the flanks of the city on May 23. This is stated in the ISW construction for May 23.

At the same time, it is argued that the press service of the Armed Forces General Staff for the first time since December 2022 did not mention the fighting in Bakhmut, which, according to ISW, could testify to the new concessions of Wagner PEC in urban areas. At the same time, the General Staff mentioned the unsuccessful offensive of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation near the settlement of chrome, located near Bakhmut.

"In the Bakhmut direction during the day, the enemy was unsuccessful offensive actions," the evening publication reads on May 23. In the morning summary on May 24, the General Staff also announced unsuccessful offensive actions in the chrome, air strikes in the Bakhmut, Ivanovsky, White Mountain, Ozaranovka and Toretsk.

The analytical report also provides a message from the Speaker of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces Sergey Cherevatov, who said that the Ukrainian forces have advanced 200-400 meters on Bakhmut's flanks and still control some buildings and fortifications on the southwestern part of the city area.

The reporters of the report also referred to the Prokremlivsky blogger, who argued that the Armed Forces had advanced near the berry (1 km northwest of Bakhmut), and Russian troops, in turn, conducted unsuccessful attacks near Grigorivka (8 km from Bakhmut) and Ivanovsky (West. from Bakhmut). We will remind that on the eve, on May 24, the ISW reported the exit of the Armed Forces from Bakhmut, and that under the control of the Ukrainian forces only areas of adjacent roads remain.
