Tours to hostilities such as Irpin or Kharkiv, which are sometimes called "black tourism", and they raise ethical issues. "I am a little afraid of Russian missiles that attack Kiev almost every day . . I am for the first time in the war zone," says Spaniard Alberto Blasco Ventas, who came to Ukraine and visited Irpin, a suburb of Kiev. About a dozen Ukrainian companies offer "Military Tours" in Ukraine. The cost of tours is from 150 to 250 euros.
Tours are mostly concentrated in Kyiv and its suburbs, where Russian soldiers committed massacres of civilians. Some of the profits from them go to the army. "Visits have, above all, an educational value. They are as a vaccine that prevents a recurrence of this. " - says Svetosar Moses, the manager of the tourist company Capital Tours Kiev. Some travel agencies carry their customers almost into the war zone.
"I just wanted to see it because I think that our life in the West is too comfortable and easy," says 34-year-old Nick Tan from the USA, who works at a New York technological company. Most residents do not against "black" tourism, says the deputy of the Irpin local council Mikhailin Skoryk-Shkarrovskaya. But there is also accusations. "Why did you come here? Why do you want to see our sadness?", - some people asked.
