Lavrov named the conditions for ending the war in Ukraine

Share: The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, said that the Russian Federation will be ready to end the war only if a number of fundamental conditions are met - the so-called "denazification", "demilitarization" and the protection of the rights of the Russian-speaking population.   He also noted that Russia demands the "removal of any threats to the Russian Federation", in particular, this concerns the possible accession of Ukraine to NATO.

Lavrov said this in an interview with the Russian mass media. Lavrov stated that this position was announced by Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin back in June 2024. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also mentioned that Russia demands the protection of the rights of national minorities in Ukraine, in particular, the restoration of the status of the Russian language and "the cessation of persecution of the UOC.

" Separately, Lavrov singled out the situation with the awarding of fighters of the 12th special purpose brigade "Azov", noting that Zelenskyy awards "neo-Nazi formations". Because of this, the Russian side allegedly does not understand how it should treat the Ukrainian president. The Russian minister emphasized the role of European countries, which "do not ignore the growth of nationalist sentiments in Ukraine.

" "Hungary single-handedly, it must be noted for its courage, insisted that among the conditions that Ukraine must fulfill before the negotiations (on joining the EU) begin, the restoration of all Ukrainian obligations in the field of respect for the rights of national minorities should be determined. When some commissioner for the enlargement of the European Union says that Ukraine is ready, that it has fulfilled everything, it is not true," Lavrov said.

He also praised the approach of US President Donald Trump's administration, which advocates ending the war based on sustainable agreements, unlike the previous administration of former President Joe Biden. According to him, Russia is ready for negotiations, but only if all the above-mentioned positions are taken into account. "We recognized Ukraine, which was not Nazi, which did not ban the Russian language.
