Rubio ridiculed the Russian Federation: Alaska's delegations had to pay for air cash

To spread: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that current sanctions against Russia are already making serious difficulties. He gave an example of a delegation of the Russian Federation, which could not pay for fuel in Alaska. Rubio told this in an interview with NBC News.

According to him, the United States is not planned to impose new sanctions against Russia, despite the threat of Donald Trump, but already existing restrictions have been significantly hit by the capabilities of the aggressor country. Rubio explained that, in his opinion, the strengthening of sanctions would not force Russia to agree to the ceasefire. He stressed that economic restrictions begin to act not immediately, but after months or even years.

"It is already under very strict sanctions," the US Secretary of State said, adding that there is no evidence of their instant effectiveness. According to Rubio, new sanctions can jeopardize peace talks. "At the moment we take these steps, there will be no one in the world who could talk to the Russians and try to force them to sit at the negotiating table," he said. At the same time, Rubio noted that all the sanctions that were in force at the time of Trump's entry remain in force.

As an example, he cited the Alaska incident. "When the Russians landed in Alaska, they tried to fill the fuel. They had to offer cash because they could not use our banking system," the US Secretary of State said. He added that such restrictions affect the capabilities of the Russian Federation daily. Separately, Rubio stressed that Washington would not put pressure on Ukraine demanding concessions in the territories during potential peace agreements.

Recall that the Trump administration has repeatedly declared its readiness to press on Russia with the help of new sanctions, but the State Department emphasizes that the key priority of the United States remains peace talks. According to Focus, in June, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio unexpectedly voiced the loss of Russians since the beginning of 2025.
