Complete "shutdown": how many ATACMS missiles need to destroy Russian air defense in Crimea

The Russian air defense in the Crimea consists of three units, of which two regiments have complexes of a large radius of action of the SCRC C-400. For these systems, they pose a serious threat to ATACMS missiles because of the low interception rate, said military expert Alexander Kovalenko. At least 24 ATCMS missiles are required to destroy Russian air defense in temporarily occupied Crimea.

This was reported by the military-political observer of the Information Resistance group Alexander Kovalenko in the material for OBOZ. ua. He said that the Russian air defense on the peninsula consists of three units-the 18th anti-aircraft missile regiment (divisions at Cape Tarkhankut, in Dzhanka and Theodosi (Cape Tarkhankut). While two shelves have complexes of a large radius of action of SCR C-400.

Kovalenko recalled that Dzhanka destroyed the Division with the help of six ATCMS missiles, resulting in the north of the peninsula not covered for medium- and large-sized objects. Whereas the destruction of the division in Theodosius will not be covered by the route from north to southeast of Crimea. "In general, the strike of six MGM-140B Block 1A rockets on the airfield near Dzhankoi has led the entire Division of the 18th ZRP from the capable state.

That is, it is a minimum indicator of effective involvement of this component, and should be considered as a base," said Alexander Kovalenko. He noted that the disruption of other divisions is needed from six or more rockets. As a result, at least 24 ATACMS missiles in Crimea is required to remove the Russian air defense radius of the C-400 type in Crimea.

The expert added that the low ATACMS interception indicates a serious threat to the C-400 SPR, which can result in the full "shutdown" of Crimea from the air defense of a large radius of action. We will remind, on April 21 the chairman of the Senate Committee on Intelligence Mark Warner reported that Ukraine can receive ATACMS missiles by the end of the week. In particular, this will happen after the Senate approves the bill for help, and President Joe Biden will sign.
