New satellites will provide the army with a secure connection: at the expense of which it can be done

Bad weather and difficult relief will be indifferent, as are hostile attempts by the hacking of communication channels. The US space forces have confirmed the program of purchase of two additional mobile user objective System (MuOS), C4ISRNET reports. These devices will provide a protected narrow -band connection for the military.

By the 2025 of the financial year, the US space forces will select one of the companies to supply satellites, the first of which they want to launch by the end of the 2030 financial year. Among the contenders, experts call Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Boeing. Satellites will join the current Constulation of four MuOS satellites plus one spare satellite in orbit, all of which were built by Lockheed Martin.

Sight -band communication satellites operate in the frequency range - from 300 MHz to 3 GHz - which makes them less vulnerable to bad weather or complex relief and ideal for the transmission of information in protected mode. Space forces predict that they will need $ 2. 5 billion in between 2024 and 2028 financial years, including $ 230 million next year.

The procurement is intended to extend the life of the constellation until the Pentagon develops a long -term plan for a narrow -band communication, which may include the integration of commercial satellites. MuOS satellites were created to replace the Ultra High Frequency Follow-on system known as UFO. They have two useful systems - one to support the UHF network and a friend, which provides a new opportunity for broadband code channels (WCDMA).
