Russia canceled the simplified entry of the Japanese to the Kuril Islands

Russia has terminated an agreement with Japan about the simplified visit to the southern smoking. It has been in operation since 1999. The corresponding order was signed by the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin, Radio Svoboda reports. According to the said agreement, Japanese citizens who lived in the controversial islands or were forced to be displaced in the past could visit smoking without visas.

Video of the Agreement Day was the islands of Kunashir, Iturup and several other islands of the Small Kuril ridge belonging to the Sakhalin region of the Russian Federation. They were part of the USSR in 1946. After the war in Ukraine, Japan imposed sanctions against Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and senior officials. In addition, Japan announced that she would provide military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.

On March 21, 2022, the Russian Federation came out of long negotiations and froze joint economic projects related to the Kuril Islands. The reason was Japan's accession to the sanctions of the West because of Russia against Ukraine. Already on March 26, Russia launched military exercises in the islands.

On March 31, Japan recognized the Kuril Islands "from the original territory", which is under illegal occupation "later in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation stated that they would abolish the visa -free regime for Japanese citizens in Kurila, taking into account the obvious unfriendly nature of" sanctions imposed by Japan.
