The problem is not in the absence of negotiations: Scholz stated that it would be easy to complete the war

The German chancellor explained that the Kremlin's goal is to destroy Ukraine as a sovereign state. He called the only condition in which a long peace is possible. German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz said it was impossible to end the war in Ukraine. This was known from the press conference, which took place on January 24 in Berlin. "Russia is directed against the very existence of Ukraine as a sovereign state," the German official emphasized.

He recalled the "imperial and historically blind" statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin and other Kremlin representatives. Scholtz has doubted the opinion that the war in Ukraine continues only due to the lack of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev. "Undoubtedly, on the eve of February 24, 2022, the discussion was not missing, only in the Minsk and Norman formats there were more than 200 meetings.

The result we all know: a brutal and illegal attack of Russia on all Ukraine," the chancellor said. He stressed that no country seeks peace as Ukraine. However, after two years of the war, it must be acknowledged that there is no "easy solution of the problem". "In any case, Russian President Putin can stop this war at any time. But if Ukrainians stop defending themselves, it will be the end of Ukraine," Solz explained.

He stated that the Kremlin should withdraw its troops, and then the path to a long peace would be laid. "Therefore, our joint signal of Russia should be: we will support Ukraine, which fights for its survival and preservation of sovereignty, as much as it will be needed," the German official added. Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen is convinced that the Hungarian Prime Minister will no longer block assistance to Ukraine.
