Putin accidentally spoke about the loss of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and seems to have said the truth - isw

Putin said that Russian troops lose 20,000 in Ukraine a month. And this figure is approximately equal to the number of new servicemen that Russia generates monthly. In the fields of Pmef (St. Petersburg International Economic Forum), Putin made several interesting statements during a meeting with media representatives. And, among other things, he said that approximately 5,000 Russian servicemen die during the war in Ukraine on a monthly basis.

And this is similar to the truth, because, based on the standard ratio of the wounded to the killed as three to one, it turns out that then about 15,000 Russian servicemen were injured. This was reported by analysts of the Institute of War Study (ISW). ISW cannot confirm Putin's loss of losses, but this figure coincides with the lower limit of Ukrainian reports of Russian losses.

On January 15, 2024, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Military Intelligence (GUR) of Ukraine Major General Vadim Skibitsky reported that Russia was recruiting about 30,000 people a month. Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, commander of the Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, declared that Russian troops were losing from 25,000 to 30,000 killed and wounded monthly.

The head of the Moscow Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technology and a Civil Advisory Council member at the Russian Ministry of Defense (MO) Ruslan Pukhov in mid -April 2024 also argued that current Russian mobilization efforts generate approximately 30,000 new servicemen on a monthly basis.

ISW notes that in recent months of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have created a more stable apparatus for the formation of forces for current offensive operations and intensified efforts to create reserves of operational and strategic level.

The Russians have used their initiative throughout the theater of hostilities in Ukraine to dictate the pace of hostilities in the last months, which would have led to losses that would be approximately equal to or were slightly less than the number of newly formed forces. This allowed the Russian troops to immediately fill the losses on the front line and maintain the overall pace of the offensive in Ukraine, but imposed restrictions on the pace of the offensive in each individual direction.

The Russians managed to create a more or less sustainable power generation apparatus for current offensive operations and they have intensified efforts to create operative and strategic reserves. In early May 2024, the Lieutenant General General Oleksandr Pavlyuk said that Russian troops intend to form approximately 100,000 personnel for use in offensive operations in June and July this year and another 300,000 people by the end of 2024.

The institute believes that Russia is likely to be far from this level. And poorly trained and equipped Russian reserves of operational and strategic levels are unlikely to be ready to act as the breakthrough forces of the first echelon or the force of the second echelon, capable of carrying out large -scale attacks in 2024, if the Armed Forces have everything they need to resist them. ISW also noted that all efforts of the Russian Federation are directed to Eastern Ukraine.
