To spread: Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orban again opposed Ukraine's accession...

Orban stated that to accept Ukraine in the EU equivalently "accept war": details

To spread: Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orban again opposed Ukraine's accession to the European Union, believing that this could lead to the blockage of the bloc into the war with Russia. He wrote about it on his Facebook page on Monday, May 12. "We, as a state bordering on Ukraine, believe that if you accept (to the EU, ed. ) Ukraine, it will mean to take war. We have never accepted a country that is in a state of war," said Orban.

The Prime Minister of Hungary added that "there are good reasons", but did not name what exactly. In addition, Orban noted that Ukraine's membership in the EU could create such an economic load that the Member States of the Bloc could not withstand. He recalled that during the accession of Central Europe to the EU, Western European countries were allegedly profitable to accept their oriental neighbors.

"Us, Hungarians and other Central European countries, were accepted to the EU, because those who were already in it were profitable to have central Europe in the block. Member countries did not make a moral or social gesture. They accepted us because they were profitable for us to be a member of the EU. They won, "he said. However, according to Orban, in the case of Ukraine the situation is different, because, in his opinion, it is not profitable.

He noted that it was a "bad business" and added that the country is faced with agrarian crisis, unemployment, debt and falling in standard of living. He also noted that several EU countries seek to provide Ukraine with additional assistance to continue the war. "We have a different opinion on this. In our opinion, the longer the war lasts, the more people die and the worse the situation on the battlefield becomes," the politician added.
