Forced to fight in Ukraine on the side of the Russian Federation: in India exposed a network of trafficking in human beings

According to the Indian intelligence agency, young people were lured into Russia by promises of work and sent to the forefront against their will. In India, they exposed a large network of trafficking in human beings, in which young men were offered to go to the Russian Federation to work "assistants" in the army, and then forced them to participate in the war against Ukraine. About it writes Reuters with reference to the Central Bureau of Investigation of India (CBI).

According to CBI, about 35 Indian citizens were sent to Russia according to this scheme. At the same time in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India previously mentioned only 20 men published by the Russians. It is also reported that at least two men who went to the Russian Federation in the hope of working "assistants" in the army were killed on the Russian-Ukrainian front. One of these deaths was officially confirmed by the India Embassy in Russia.

"Indian citizens who have been victims of trafficking in human beings were trained in combat actions and sent to the leading bases in the area of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict against their will," the department emphasized. According to CBI, traffickers who operate in several states of India lured people to Russia through social networks and local agents.

Law enforcement officers conducted searches in a number of places, including in New Delhi and Mumbai, which resulted in seized 50 million Rs ($ 605,000), as well as some documents and electronic records. Some suspects for interrogation are also reported. We will remind, on March 6 Indian journalist Uma Suthir reported that a group of citizens of India was recruited to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and she is now fighting against Ukraine.
