A person familiar with the opinion of the Kremlin President told the publication that Putin was convinced that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will be able to break through the defense of the Armed Forces by the end of 2025 and take four regions under complete control. He did not show any signs that he was ready to stop the fighting, since the Russian army is moving at a slow pace on the battlefield in Ukraine.
"Unfortunately, at the stage of the war we are on, there are no significant incentives for Russia to agree to the ceasefire," said Michael Kafman, Senior Researcher at the Carnegie Foundation, at a conference in Estonia. Other sources close to the Kremlin voiced in a comment by Bloomberg the idea that Putin is ready for a long war, as well as "optimistic" on sanctions that are preparing to impose in the European Union and the US in response to Russia's refusal to stop fire.
"But Putin is not interested in the failure of the negotiation. He tries to maneuver so that these negotiations continue in parallel with the military offensive," said Sergei Markov, a political consultant closely related to the Kremlin. One of the analysts, Bota Ilias, also told Bloomberg that Putin would insist on a Russian vision on ceasefire during a conversation with Trump.
