Germany is working on the next generation rocket: what is known about the Taurus NEO project

According to analysts, the range of new missiles should exceed 500 km, and the cost of production for production of 600 units is estimated at about 2. 1 billion euros. Recently, the German newspaper Spiegel reported on October 25 that Germany's Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced a project to create a modernized version of the Taurus winged rocket, called Taurus Neo.

Commenting on the information, the Army Recognition reviewers found out the technical aspect of the new development, emphasizing the additional sense of the project against the background of the request of Ukraine for the supply of weapons to counteract Russian blows. The authors of the material write that the main task in the Taurus NEO project was to improve the Taurus Kepd 350 cruise missile, including its range, accuracy and striking ability.

It is reported that the new rocket will be able to overcome more than 500 km, which will expand the radius of its use and with the ability to affect distant goals with high accuracy. Taurus NEO will receive a new guidance system that will combine inertial and GPS navigation, which will improve the accuracy of object damage, especially in difficult conditions. This makes the rocket especially effective for attacking the enemy's hidden and fortified goals.

The rocket will also be equipped with a reinforced warhead designed to damage powerful fortifications such as bunkers and underground warehouses. This gives it competitive advantages in destroying protected objects, which is important in modern conflicts. In addition, the rocket will be able to bypass the missile defense systems, which will increase its resistance to detection and interception, increasing the chances of successful damage to the goals.

Analysts believe that in the light of current conflicts, the Taurus NEO program will not only increase Germany's defensive potential, but can also play an important role in common European initiatives. So Germany and the United Kingdom have recently signed an agreement for accelerated development of long-range weapons, the purpose of which is to create a missile range from 1000 to 2000 km by 2030s as part of a European approach to a long strike (Elsa).
