The Single Register of Weapons in Ukraine: The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained what will change with the beginning of its work (video)

Each weapon owner will be able to check information about themselves and the term of their permission. The "trophy weapons" will not be registered because of the lack of legal regulation. On June 23, a single weapon register will work. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Timchenko told about what information it can be obtained and submitted through the TV.

"First of all, every user of a weapon, every owner, will have the opportunity to enter the personal office of a citizen, to verify themselves, to see the weapon that is assigned to this citizen today, to establish the compliance of the weapons and information in the register," he explained. Ukrainians will also be able to check in their personal office the validity of their weapons permission.

This, according to the Deputy Chairman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will help to navigate when the permission must be continued. "In order to continue the permission, it is necessary to contact only when the expiration of such permission is approached," Timchenko emphasized. That is, there is no need to contact the police or business entities to change the weapon permit if it does not need to be updated due to its expiration.

If a person has received a paper permit in early June, they do not need to update the data about itself with the start of the Unified Register. "The permit will be three years. And in fact we can say that the full register of weapons will work when every citizen changes his permission to use the weapon in three years," the law enforcement officer informed. Regarding the "trophy weapons", that is, the enemy conquered from the enemy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not provide clear forecasts.

According to him, the procedure for registration of such weapons is now being discussed by lawmakers, but now this issue is not regulated. Timchenko noted that the idea to create an electronic register of weapons is not related to its illegal circulation, but is intended to bring the digitalization closer. According to the Ministry, there are now more than 700,000 weapons in Ukraine.

We will remind, on May 2 the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko explained what weapons it will be possible to register and which it is forbidden to leave for itself. According to him, more than a million units are now in circulation in the territory of Ukraine, if you do not consider "Trophy". The intention to launch a single registry of weapons in electronic format was declared in the Ministry of Internal Affairs in December 2021.
