Initially, the delivery of the ship was planned in 2018, but the terms were repeatedly shifted. Initially, it was assumed that during the reconstruction, the cruiser would receive 174 launchers designed for different types of rocket weapons. According to the stated plans, 80 of them are designed for the winged missiles "Caliber", "Onyx" and hypersonic "Zircon".

However, the terms of modernization have made adjustments to these plans, and the final composition of the ship's weapons is still not fully confirmed. To ensure air defense, the cruiser will receive the S-300FM "Fort" system and eight shell-m complexes designed to protect against low-range air threats. The possibility of integration of the elements of the C-400 system will also be considered, which will significantly expand the capabilities of the ship.

In addition, the renewal on the ship was planned to replace almost all combat systems with modern analogues. Thus, experts write, if all the work is completed in full, the modernized "Admiral Nakhimov" will become the most powerful surface ship of the Navy of Russia.
