The papal representation indicated the falsehood of such interpretation.
"Pope Francis has never called for imperialist ideas. On the contrary, he is a decisive opponent and critic of any form of imperialism or colonialism in all nations and situations," they said in the department. We will remind, on August 25, Pope Francis spoke to the Russian youth and called for it not to forget about the "great legacy" of Russia.
"You are the heirs of Great Russia: Great Russia of Saints, rulers, Great Russia Peter I, Catherine II, that empire - great, educated, great culture and great humanity," the pontiff said. The Pope also wished the Russians to be "artisans of peace" among "various manifestations of polarization" in the world. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine regretted the statement of Pope Francis.
