Hungary ordered the development of modified air defense based on BMP Lynx

The mobile complex will have a radius of action 20 km and will be able to strike goals with programmable ammunition. The German company Rheinmetall will develop a new version of Skyranger 30 air defense complex on Hungary on Hungary on the Lynx BMP chassis. The manufacturer's press service reports. Within the European Initiative Sky Shield, Hungary has concluded a contract with Rheinmetall on the conceptual development of the Skyranger 30 air defense mobile defense complex.

The contract was signed on December 15, 2023 in Budapest. It is likely that the new complex will complement the component of army mobile air defense of the near radius together with KF41 Lynx. Currently, Hungary remains second after Denmark Skyranger 30. The UK, Germany and Switzerland expressed their interest in the project. The Skyranger 30 anti-aircraft missile system consists of 30 mm gun, two anti-aircraft missiles and fire control systems.

The combat module can be based not only on Lynx BMP, but also on other armored vehicles. To increase the chances of lesions, the gun shoots programmable ammunition with air blasting, creating a cloud of tungsten fragments near the target. The radius of the complex is about 20 km. Aesa, camcorder and thermal imager has two laser rangefinders to track the air defense goals.
