Household hell at 1.5 square meters. meters: residents left a tiny island on a "warship" (photo)

The island of a warship is the most famous of the 505 deserted islands of Nagasaki. In the last century, about 1300 convicted workers were killed here, but after a while new residents appeared, who may have attracted the dark history of this place. The tiny island off the coast of Japan, similar to a warship, remains abandoned for decades. He was a real "hell" for former residents. About it reports The Sun.

Since 1930 and some time after the Second World War, thousands of Korean and Chinese convicts were forced to work on the Pacific Island of Hasima in the East Chinese Sea. Some never managed to escape from him. Hasima Island (Gufandsima or the Island of the War Ship) is the most famous of the 505 deserted islands of Nagasaki. It was opened in 1887 and used as an important coal mine after it became the property of Mitsubishi in 1890.

Tall concrete buildings began to build Korean and Chinese prisoners in 1916, they had to work in a grueling environment. About 1300 workers died in Hasimm during underground accidents, from exhaustion or malnutrition. Those who still survived were called the island not by Hasima or "island-ship", but by "a prisoner" or "hellish island". After the war, many ordinary citizens moved here to work, with about one and a half meters of living space for each person.

During the boom, when an island of 480 by 160 meters turned into a National Coal production center, 5,300 people lived on it. It contained hospitals, schools, shops and even a temple. But soon the coal in the mines ended, in 1974 they were closed, and leaving abandoned for 40 years, and nature began to restore the original landscape. Concrete buildings, which were previously considered strong enough to protect the residents of the island from typhoons began to fall apart.

Despite the danger, it later settled new people, possibly attracted to the dark history of this place. Until 2002, the island owned Mitsubishi, then he became the property of Nagasaki, which was annexed to Takasim in 2005. In the 23rd movie about James Bond, the island became a villain. In the end, the government decided to open this place for everyone, the walls that are destroyed, strengthened or demolished.
