The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation through despair had to fight 70-year-old T-55 tanks-Forbes (video)

According to analysts, the T-55 weapons lacks the striking force, even worse on the right with armor. The tank cannot withstand even the smallest drones. The Ukrainian drone has blown up the Russian tank near the front line in the Kherson region this week or a little earlier. A remarkable type of drone (FPV) and a tank-virtually a museum T-55 issue of the 50's. Forbes writes about it.

The T-55 tanks in the south of the Kherson region are mostly in the arsenal of the 810th Brigade of the Marines of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. They are used as mobile howa: they raise their 100mm guns high up and fire targets up to 15 km away. T-55 is not the best of howitzers. The sight does not cover the maximum shooting range. The fragile barrel will not last long under heavy loads.

But in 2023, 70 years after the 40-ton four-seater T-55, the Soviet Army was first armed, they were decided to remove from long-term storage and supplement with the latest Russian machines, hoping to improve the statistics of arrivals. The T-55 weapons are lacking power, even worse is the armor. The tank is vulnerable not only to heavy anti -tank agents, but also to infantry weapons and the smallest drones.

That is why the T-55 tank, recently destroyed in the Kherson region, probably could not stand the impact. Seeing under the armor cage, which the Russians hurriedly welded to the top of the tank, FPV, most likely, aimed at a weak place between the tower and the body. The doomed tank and its doomed crew, apparently attacked the narrow bridgehead of the Ukrainian Marines on the left bank of the Dnieper. After all, FPV is usually at no more than a few kilometers.

If the 810th Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation used its T-55 exclusively as howitzers, it would probably not have to roll them into the FPV area. The Russians risk their oldest and weakest tanks in direct attacks on Ukrainian positions. Analysts try to find out how many more working tanks remain in the Armed Forces after the loss of at least 2600 units of such equipment.

Before a full -scale invasion of two years ago, there were less than 3,000 combat tanks in the Russian Armed Forces. According to the most optimistic estimates, the Russian industry has produced or removed from the conservation of 500 tanks in 2022 and another 1500 in 2023. The rate of production is probably too slow to compensate for all the losses of the Armed Forces in the part of armored vehicles, especially given that in recent weeks the losses have increased sharply.
