Planned to kill the military from Chechnya: Major General SBU Shaytanov received 12 years behind bars

Prosecutors in court proved that the intelligence service was gathering information that made state secret and handed it to Russia's representatives. The SBU Expector Mayor was sentenced to 12 years for lattice for the State Council and an attempt on a terrorist act in the interests of the aggressor state. This decision was made on August 14 by the Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv. This was reported by the SBU press service.

The former first deputy head of the SBU Special Operations Center Valery Shaytanov was accused of treason, completed by a terrorist act, as well as illegal handling of firearms (Part 1 of Article 111, Part 2 of Article 15 of Article 5 of Art. . 27 Part 2 of Article 258, Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). In court, the prosecution proved that Major General gathered information that was a state secret and transferred it to Russia.

He also sought accomplices among former SBU employees to commit a terrorist attack. He planned the murder of the Major of the Armed Forces of the Chechen Republic Ichkeria, who since February 2015 during the war in eastern Ukraine headed the International Peacekeeping Battalion named after Johar Dudayev. The case lasted since October 2020. The investigation found that the Major General worked for the Russian special services under the pseudonym "Bobil".

Its curator was the Colonel of the FSB of the Russian Federation Igor Egorov with the call sign "Elbrus". Egorov was one of the organizers of occupation and war in Donbass in the summer of 2014. Shaytanov also collected and transmitted information about secret operations in the ATO/OOS area and employees of Ukrainian special services involved in them. SBU counterintelligence detained Shaitanova in April 2020 as a result of a multi -stage special operation.
