About 9:00 pm, the sounds of shooting were heard in the city: eyewitnesses reported that more than 15 characteristic sounds were heard within 30 minutes. Governor of the Murmansk region Andriy Chibis soon confirmed the fact of the incident in the regional center. He urged local residents to open light in apartments and not approach the windows. According to the governor, security forces arrived at the incident. Meanwhile, a video of shooting in Murmansk was spread on the network.

The surrounding streets were blocked. Russian media, including the Mash Telegram channel, reported that a man had shot from a rifle. Under the sight of weapons were windows and police cars who arrived on call to the incident. According to the Russians, the attacker did not set any requirements or conditions of completion of the shooting. His motives, through which he started shooting, is also not reported now.

For some time, operational services could not get on the roof of the high -rise building, from where the shooting continued. There was a hatch that leads to the roof. Around 11:20 pm it became known that the attacker was shooting with two types of weapons. The man continued to run along the roof of the house and did not even express his willingness to give up to the police. Closer to midnight Kyiv time, it became known that Russian operational services were still detained by shooters.

They managed to do it during the storming of the building. Local publications also reported that the police could not get on the roof of a multi -storey building because the attacker had wrapped the passage with barbed wire before.
