Putin's arrest warrant: Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs was wanted

The plans to search the prosecutor and judges of the International Court of Justice in the Hague were previously voiced in the Investigative Committee of Russia. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has wanted the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICS) of Karim Khan. This was reported on May 19 by RIA "Novosti" with reference to the departmental base of the persons wanted. "The reason for the search: is wanted under the article of the Criminal Code," - said in the Khan's card.

The agency notes that the article under which the 53-year-old native of Edinburgh is not traditionally specified. On May 11, the chairman of the investigative committee of Russia Oleksandr Basrykin at the St. Petersburg International Law Forum stated that the department was going to make the wanted prosecutor, chairman and three judges of the ISS who issued a warrant for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The IC then quickly initiated a criminal case against the prosecutor, the chairman and three judges (ISS - ed. ) On March 20, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in Hague Karim Ahmad Khan and Judges of Tomoco Akane, Rosario Salvatore Aitala and Sergio Kharardo Ugalde Godinz after issuing them a warrior for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The actions of the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court contain signs of crimes under Part 2 of Article 299, Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 360 of the Criminal Code: prosecuting deliberately innocent to criminal liability, combined with the illegal accusation or a particularly serious crime, as well as preparation for an attack on a representative of a foreign state with international protection, in order to complicate international relations, " - said SKR.

The ISS is the first permanent international body of criminal justice, which consists of persecution of persons responsible for genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, as well as crimes of aggression. Based on the Roman Statute, adopted in 1998, officially began its work on July 1, 2002. Its competence includes crimes committed after the competence of the Roman Statute. The ISS considers criminal cases related to genocide, crimes against humanity and military crimes.

As of April 2013, the Roman Statute was ratified by 123 countries around the world. However, a number of countries did not sign the Roman Statute. Among such countries in the US, China, India, Israel and Iran. Russia signed the Roman Statute on September 13, 2000, but never ratified it. In 2016, the country withdrew from the ISS after the annexation of Crimea found the court by occupation.

On March 17, the Court in Hague issued a warrant for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin, considering him guilty of illegal deportation of thousands of children from Ukraine. So, if the Russian leader now comes to one of the Member States of the International Criminal Court, he is arrested. Russia has already stated that the decision has not had any legal consequences for the country and its president.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova stressed that the country did not sign the Roman Statute of the International Criminal Court and is not obliged to obey it. In turn, the Presidential President Dmitry Peskov said that the warrant for the arrest of Vladimir Putin is void from a legal point of view. And the very establishment of the question of the responsibility of the Russian leader is unacceptable.

We will remind, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan said on May 4 that the South African Republic would do the right thing if it arrests Putin during his arrival for the summit of BRICS, planned for August. According to him, the country is ready to execute the decision of the ISS. On May 1, the media reported that the authorities of South Africa are interested in not visiting the country but participating in the event in the format of video.
