Ukraine's Tomahawk missiles will threaten energy and infrastructure strategic facilities of the Russian Federation, according to an article by The Hill media. In addition, military targets, which used to be difficult to achieve, are of particular interest, but now hitting them will give Moscow a "headache", experts noted. The Hill cited the estimates of military analyst Emil Castehelmi of the Finnish research center Black Bird Group.
According to his prediction, there are "huge numbers" of targets. Among other things, strikes on oil refineries (refineries) may continue, but there are also other objects. What targets in the Russian Federation can be hit by "Tomahawks" of Ukraine: More specific targets were named by the co-founder of the Snake Island Institute, Vladyslav Sobolevskyi.
In his opinion, interest in Tomahawks will be aroused by two "currently unattainable objects": According to analysts, Tomahawk missiles will give Ukraine additional leverage in order to persuade the Russian Federation to negotiate and stop the war. However, the Russians can adapt to new threats. At the same time, the Russian Armed Forces are not quite successful in fending off drones, and this suggests that there will still be difficulties.
"This could offer more troops, and therefore give them additional leverage and opportunities to attack Russian energy facilities, such as oil refineries. This is perhaps Ukraine's biggest leverage to force the Russians to negotiate," Center for Strategic and International Studies representative Mark Cansian said in The Hill. It should be noted that on October 15, analysts of the Institute for the Study of War published a map of probable targets for the Tomahawks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Analysts have identified three zones on the map - depending on the range of different types of missiles that the US has and that have provided or can provide to Ukraine. On the Focus infographic, we can see that the first zone is the range of HIMARS missiles, i. e. 300 km: these are about 14-15 objects located in the Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod regions of the Russian Federation. The second zone is the range of "Tomahawks" for 1,600 km: there are about 50 military bases of the Russian Armed Forces.
The third zone reaches the Ural Mountains and the border of Kazakhstan - this is 2,500 km: there are eight military bases, several of them on the Kola Peninsula, from where planes take off to strike Ukraine. Meanwhile, a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and US President Donald Trump is expected. The head of the White House announced that he may provide the Russian Armed Forces with Tomahawk missiles if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not listen to his peace proposals.
